We are Derek and Janet Biles. We live and work in Dorset in the south of England. We are lucky to have five grown up children and nine grandchildren living nearby.
Our love affair with the Greek islands started in 1998 when we spent our honeymoon in Kefalonia. We had our first holiday in Rhodes in 2002 and enjoyed it so much we returned year after year. Like many visitors we fell in love with the beauty of the island, the fascinating history and the wonderful Rhodian hospitality. In 2007 we decided to look at the possibility of buying a property as a second home and with the view of being somewhere to retire to in years to come.
We decided that Gennadi was exactly the right location; a traditional Greek village with good amenities yet offering everything you could want for a relaxing holiday. In late 2008 we returned to Rhodes and looked at several properties in the area. Our minds were made up when we saw the Gennadi Hills villa; although just a shell of bricks at the time, the fantastic views over the sea, the equally beautiful mountains along the coast above Pefkos and wonderful landscape towards the southern tip of the island won us over and we knew that this was the one.
The property was built as a project by a young businessman from Rhodes town who put a lot of thought and care in to the design, making it in keeping with the traditional look of the village and he was extremely proud of the finished result. We were sent photos as the building work progressed and we visited in early 2009 to check on progress and started to choose furniture. We flew to Rhodes again in June 2009 when the villa was finished and were overjoyed with the end result. The villa was named after Derek’s late father who died some years ago, and fittingly Alexander is a prominent name in Greek history.
We love our time in Gennadi and have enjoyed holidays with our parents, children, and grandchildren at the villa and try to visit at the beginning and end of the summer season. We have a very capable property management team run by Alan and Judigh who are very experienced at dealing with all eventualities. They look after the house and pool, they are always friendly and keen to share their extensive knowledge of the island if you so wish.
It gives us a great deal of pleasure when people have enjoyed their holidays at our villa. When they say that they have had a restful and fulfilling time we feel we have shared some of the wonderful experiences we have had during our own holidays in Rhodes. If you are thinking about renting our villa please feel free to contact us at any time with any questions as we now have quite a good knowledge of Rhodes and we have built a good network of friends on the island who can find out things on our behalf if necessary. We are sure that you will enjoy the friendliness and hospitality of the Greek people and hope that you have a wonderful time and will return in future years.
